Development -
The Indiana-based company White Lodgings is looking to build a 10-story, 324-room hotel tower on South Alamo Street. The project will rehabilitate two historic buildings and is projected to cost $95 million. It’s set to be completed around August 2024. 🏙️ (San Antonio Heron)
Community -
CoSA will review proposed changes to the city’s development code that would reduce barriers to ADU construction (aka casitas). The aim of this change is to give homeowners the ability to expand their homes to fit their lifestyle needs like housing older relatives. 🏘️ (San Antonio Report)
Health -
San Antonio Metro Health has issued a warning indicating that Bexar County’s COVID-19 risk level is high. Those planning to celebrate the Fourth of July should implement preventative measures to avoid getting infected like masking in crowded areas + staying up to date with COVID-19 vaccines and booster shots.
Eat -
The bi-annual event, Culinaria Restaurant Week, announced it will return Sat., Aug. 13-Sat., Aug. 27. Participating restaurants will offer special three-course, prix-fixe menus that include $20 + $30 selections for lunch and $35, $45, and $55 for dinner. 🍽️
Coming Soon -
Houston-based chain Brenner’s Steakhouse is coming to SATX according to a banner on the River Walk. While there is no word on an opening date, the restaurant will be located on Losoya Street next to Dick’s Last Resort. 🥩
Open -
The Human Bean, a drive-through coffee shop, is planning on opening its first San Antonio location. The new shop will be located on 25510 Bulverde Rd. Two more additional locations will open on 7224 FM 78 and 9642 Marbach Rd. There are no official opening dates yet. ☕ (MySA)
Arts -
Department of Arts & Culture has announced that individual artists + art nonprofits are now eligible to apply for emergency grants funded through the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA). The ARPA 4 Arts Grant Program will distribute a total of $4 million to support the local arts community. The deadline to apply is Fri., July 29. 🖌️
