Did you know that by the year 2040 San Antonio’s population will increase by over 1 million? It’s true — SATX is one of the fastest growing cities in America, and VIA is making sure to address this growth by providing new means of transportation with its Keep SA Moving initiative. A part of this grand plan includes the Alamo City’s first Advanced Rapid Transit Project (ART). Here's what we know + how you can provide input on the project design and development in upcoming meetings.

🚎 What is ART? -
This proposed 12-mile corridor plans to connect the airport, downtown + the Missions through dedicated lanes along San Pedro Avenue.
-
The project is currently in the development phase, which means that between now and 2025 VIA will be working on creating an approved set of construction plans.
- The proposed construction phase is set to begin in 2025.
-
ART service is set to open to the public in 2027.

🚎 Benefits of ART
The goal is to provide alternative transportation to the rapidly growing population in our city. ART plans to: - Offer 10-15 minute service all day
- Real-time route information
-
Boarding options for all abilities
- Delivers access to key destinations
- Pay before you board options

🚎 How will this project get funded?
VIA is currently the only Texas project added to the funding recommendation list for the Fiscal Year 2023. If approved, ART may secure $158 million, making it the first time the Alamo City has accessed this type of funding in history. The overall cost for ART is expected to be $320 million. 🚎 ART public meetings Residents will have two options to provide input + feedback on the project in person as well as view past meetings on its website.

Editor’s Pick: I had dinner at Ida Claire over the weekend and it was a solid 10/10. Pictured is the Berry Spicy margarita and its signature Bird Cage appetizer (Think: charcuterie board in a bird cage). I also recommend trying the Crawfish Corn Beignets.
