The City of San Antonio recently launched the “Shift to Buy Local” campaign just in time for the holiday season. This new initiative aims to bring awareness to the benefits of shopping at local businesses + its impact on the economy.

Fun facts from Small Business Saturday last year:

American Express shared that there was a record-high spending of $19.8 billion for Small Business Saturday across the country.
50% of shoppers reported they found local shops + its deals through social media recommendations.
56% of shoppers made online-only purchases from small businesses.

Birds Up — In celebration of UTSA Football team’s undefeated season, the Frost Tower, Rotary Ice Rink, and Tobin Center will light the city orange. CoSA, Centro SA + UTSA are encouraging other local businesses to do the same as the team prepares for the Conference USA Championship. Traffic

Citizens of Boerne + visitors will no longer have to sit through the traffic light at Scenic Loop Road. The City of Boerne announced that the on-ramp to get onto eastbound I-10 past Main Street as you head into San Antonio is now open. 🚦

Festival

The Grand Tamalada is back with in-person festivities and online programming. This two-day event will include snow in Historic Market Square, a holiday market, Abuelita hot chocolate sampling, giveaways + more. You can also purchase a Tamalada Kit to learn how to make tamales at home. 🫔

Cause

The South Texas Blood & Tissue Center is in need of blood donations. You can stop by their mobile blood drive this Sat., Nov. 27 at Rolling Oaks Mall to give back. Appointments are required before and can be made online. ❤️
